Vitamin D is an essential nutrient which our body produces when it is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D is responsible for many functioning of our body in addition to bone health, its deficiency can cause an imbalance in our blood levels, calcium levels, and immunity, in children it can cause rickets which is the weakening of bones, Vitamin D deficiency can lead to muscle weakness and bone related issues, natural sunlight is the greatest source of Vitamin D production but ever since the pandemic many of us are inside the house due to the restrictions and for prevention, our exposure to sunlight has become so limited due to which many people are facing Vitamin D deficiency, so what should we do to obtain an adequate amount of Vitamin D in such a scenario. Today we will discuss Vitamin D superfoods which we must include in our daily diet and that will make sure that our bones and our hormones are functioning perfectly.

1. MILK

Milk is an excellent source of Vitamin D, one glass of milk contains about 30% of our daily requirement, drinking a glass of milk every day will boost your Vitamin D level, and automatically it is going to strengthen your bones.

2. YOGURT

Yogurt or dahi contains 10-20% of the daily requirement of Vitamin D, the best choice of milk is cow's milk, as it is highly nutritious and most easily digested. Yogurt can be eaten plain or by adding to salads or any other vegetables and nuts. A small bowl of curd or raita and a glass of buttermilk must be a part of your lunch.

3. SOYA MILK

Soya is high in protein but soya milk and other soya products like tofu are high in Vitamin D, it has about 25% of the daily value in Vitamin D and should be included in your meals, this would prevent bone wasting or cavities, a glass of soya milk can be added to your daily diet.

4. MUSHROOMS

Some types of mushrooms – when expose to sunlight, some mushrooms such as maitake, morel, oyster, and shiitake produce natural Vitamin D in the same way that we produce when we are exposed to sunlight. You can consume mushrooms as a soup or as a part of a vegetable added to your usual sabzis.
