Disney Plus 2025 Year in Review: The Most Watched Movies and Shows
As we close out a massive year for streaming, Disney+ has officially cemented its status as a content powerhouse. With the integration of Hulu, ESPN, and ABC News into a single app experience, the platform now boasts an incredible 55,000 hours of programming. From animated favorites to high-stakes live sports, the 2025 numbers tell a fascinating story of what we all spent our time watching.
Joining the Billion-Hour Club
It wasn't just the new releases making waves this year. Disney+ saw several fan-favorite series reach the prestigious "billion hours streamed" milestone. Leading the pack were grit and comedy staples like Sons of Anarchy and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
On the younger side of the spectrum, the webslinging adventures of Spidey and His Amazing Friends and the nostalgic charm of Malcolm in the Middle also crossed into the billion-hour territory, proving that deep libraries are just as important as new blockbusters.
Bluey Rules the World (Again)
If you have kids (or even if you don’t), this likely comes as no surprise: Bluey was once again the most-watched series on the platform. The beloved Australian pup racked up a staggering 26.5 million rewatches in 2025 alone.
The platform also saw its busiest single day on May 4, as fans worldwide flocked to the service to celebrate Star Wars Day, pushing streaming traffic to record-breaking levels.
Movies and Live Spectacles
On the film side, the ocean called, and everyone answered. Moana 2 dominated the movie charts with over 80 million rewatches, making it the undisputed heavyweight champion of the year.
When it came to live television, Dancing with the Stars took the crown. The competition series wasn't just watched; it was an interactive event, drawing in over half a billion votes from viewers throughout the season.
From Breaking News to True Crime
The addition of ABC News proved to be a masterstroke for Disney, as it became the most-watched streaming channel on the service. Meanwhile, the true-crime genre continued to fascinate audiences. The docuseries Devil In The Family: The Fall Of Ruby Franke stood out as the most-viewed documentary of the year, highlighting a growing appetite for investigative storytelling.
Sports and Adult Animation Flourish
Since the inclusion of ESPN, sports fans have made themselves at home on Disney+. Over 90 million hours of sports content were consumed this year.
Perhaps most surprising to some is the massive success of adult animation. Series aimed at older audiences accounted for a whopping 3.4 billion hours of watch time, proving that Disney+ is no longer just for the little ones.
