Operation Akhal: A Continuing Fight Against Terror

 Four Security Personnel Injured as Encounter Enters Day 9

A major anti-terror operation, codenamed "Operation Akhal," is continuing in the dense forests of the Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, which started on August 1st, has now been going on for nine days. Security forces are searching for and trying to eliminate terrorists hiding in the area.

This long and difficult operation has, unfortunately, resulted in injuries to four security personnel. So far, a total of 11 personnel have been injured, and two have tragically been killed: Lance/Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh.

The operation was launched after security forces received a specific tip that terrorists were present in the Akhal forest. The joint operation involves the Army and local police, and they are using advanced technology like drones and helicopters to find the terrorists. Para commandos have also joined the search and elimination efforts.

So far, two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Senior officers, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police chief and the Army's Northern Commander, are closely watching the operation. The search is still on, and officials are providing updates as they become available.
