Prime Minister Narendra Modi has countered President Donald Trump's recent comments, where Trump referred to India as a "dead economy." Speaking at a recent event, Modi highlighted India's rapid progress and its ambition to become the world's third-largest economy.
A Look at India's Growth
Modi pointed out that since 2014, India has moved from the 10th largest economy to being among the top five globally. He attributed this success to the country's spirit of "Reform, Perform and Transform."
He backed up his statements with some impressive figures:
- Exports: India's exports have nearly doubled, increasing from $468 billion to $824 billion.
- Electronics: The country is now a top-five exporter of mobile handsets.
- Infrastructure: Significant growth has been seen in metro rail services, the doubling of electrified rail networks, and an increase in airports.
Looking Ahead: A Self-Reliant India
The Prime Minister emphasized that these achievements are strengthening the idea of a self-reliant India, or "Aatmanirbhar Bharat." He stated that the country's next big priority is to achieve self-reliance in technology, ensuring continued growth and development for the future.
